The Inbox & approving replies
The Inbox is every conversation in one place. How much the assistant does on its own is up to you — and you can always step in.
Review mode vs. auto-send
Review mode (the default): the assistant writes every reply as a draft that waits in your Inbox. Nothing sends until you approve it. This is the right mode while you're building trust — you see every word before a customer does.
Auto-send: the assistant sends its replies immediately, and the automated extras switch on too — the next-morning follow-up nudge when a customer goes quiet, and visit reminders the evening before and morning of a scheduled visit. Most pros graduate to auto-send once they've watched the assistant handle a few real conversations.
Editing a draft
Open a pending reply, change whatever you like, and approve — your edited version is what sends. Editing does not switch anything off. The assistant stays on the conversation and drafts the next reply when the customer responds. Think of it as coaching, not taking over.
Actually taking over
Two things hand a conversation to you and pause the assistant on that thread only:
- Writing your own message in the console composer.
- Replying from the Thumbtack app — Capture notices your reply and steps aside.
Either way the thread shows the assistant as paused, and the AI toggle on the thread hands it back whenever you want. Pausing one thread never affects the others.
What the badges mean
- AI handling — the assistant is active on this thread.
- AI paused — you've taken this thread over (toggle to resume).
- AI off — something account-wide has sending stopped: the Sending switch is off, a billing hold, or auto-reply disabled in Settings. The badge's tooltip names the reason.
Flags on conversations
Each row carries at most one status flag so scanning stays fast: a draft waiting for you, a customer awaiting your reply, an opt-out, a booked visit, or a closed job. Opening a thread clears its "awaiting reply" state; a fresh customer message raises it again.
