The Sending switch
One switch in Settings controls whether your assistant is allowed to send anything, anywhere. It starts off, and only you turn it on.
Why your account starts OFF
An AI that speaks as your business should never surprise you. So a new account never sends a word until you flip Sending on — after you've connected Thumbtack, looked around the console, and decided you're ready. "On" is only ever your own hand.
What OFF actually means
Off stops outbound — the assistant's replies and any automated messages. It does not stop capture:
- New leads still land in your account, fully detailed.
- Customer messages still appear in your Inbox.
- You can still read everything, reply manually from Thumbtack, and manage jobs.
Nothing is ever lost while you're off — you're just answering by hand in the meantime.
What ON means
The assistant goes to work on new activity: it writes a first reply when a fresh lead lands and keeps the conversation going as customers respond. In review mode (the default) every one of those messages still waits for your approval before sending — see The Inbox & approving replies.
Turning on never touches the past. Leads and conversations that existed before you flipped the switch are left exactly as they are. The assistant only ever engages with what happens next.
"Your account isn't live yet"
If your Settings page shows this instead of the normal switch, your account is in Zendro's onboarding hold — typically while we finish white-glove setup with you. We flip that hold as part of your go-live; from then on the switch is yours.
Sending and billing
If a subscription payment fails, sending pauses automatically after a 5-day grace period (capture continues). Payment restores it — details in Billing.
